This article describes ten effective verbal deflectors and when to use them to to address potential conflicts before they erupt, keep students in a positive frame of mind, and maintain the momentum of a lesson. It also offers general tips for maintaining order in the classroom. These tested strategies provide helpful language for redirecting students to make more constructive choices and learn critical self-management skills.
